Agathon Spindle Rebuild

The grease in the front bearings was washed out from coolant contamination. This causes a lack of lubrication that leads to heat and ultimately bearing failure. Fortunately the rest of the spindle checked out well during our repair evaluation. We were able to rebuild this spindle as a “straight repair” meaning no additional work was needed aside from our normal rebuilding procedures. The spindle was shipped two weeks from the approval date and is at the customers facility.

This spindle is shown on one of our test stands undergoing our initial vibration analysis tests. We rebuilt both the drive motor and the spindle and we will final test them as an assembly. This makes sure the assembly will perform to our high standards when it is installed into the machine.
