Our customer sent us this spindle because of heavy vibration and poor part finish. Two of the shafts were fretted to 50 microns below what they should have been. This caused the adjoining parts to not fit properly. This combined with worn bearings was the cause of the vibration and ultimately the poor part quality. We ground plate ground the undersized parts and rebuilt the spindle. It is now running on the machine making beautiful parts.

This spindle had run out in the taper and the bearings were slightly contaminated. This caused poor part finish.
We kiss ground the taper and rebuilt the spindle.
