We repair many spindles from customers in Canada. This customer sent us a Hurco HS100842 spindle for repair.
After breaking down the spindle for evaluation we discovered that the #1 front bearing had failed. The shaft taper had 4 microns runout and the front shoulder had 3-4 microns runout.
We repaired this Hurco HS100842 spindle and shipped back to our customer using their UPS number. Many customers request that we ship back on their freight account. We are happy to oblige.

Belt tension on a spindle is very important. The breakdown of this spindle repair showed rear bearing failure. The number three bearing had a broken cage and the number four bearing was contaminated. This is sometimes an indicator of belts being tight. With continued use the spindle will bind and causes the rear bearings to wear. We contacted the customer and let them know what the possible cause of failure was. They will check the belts and when installing make sure tension is correct.
