Omlat Torino Spindle Repair
Omlat Torino Spindle Repair
This Omlat spindle had bearing failure. The front shaft journal was undersized and the drawbar threads were bent. In addition to repairing this spindle the customer wanted it converted to be able to use collet toolholding. We modified the shaft to accept a standard collet system. We also provided collets and collet nuts so the conversion was plug and play. The spindle was shipped back to the customer with our standard 1 year warranty.

24,000 RPM
This spindle had front and rear bearing failure. This is a common cause of failure for wood routing spindles. Some things you can do to prevent this are:
Use reasonable feed rates
- Use a spindle speed that is best for the process. Faster is not always better
- Try to prevent contamination from wood dust
- Make sure tooling is in proper working condition
We replaced the bearings, adjusted the preload, balanced, assembled and broke in the spindle. It was then checked by our QC department and shipped back to the customer.
Omlat 6358 Spindle Repair
33,000 rpm
This spindle repair was received with the spindle seized up. Upon breakdown it was found that the front bearing cage was broken. The shaft pilot and journals had excessive run out.
The spindle shaft was ground, chrome plated and finish ground to specifications. The bearings were replaced. Our spindle repair technician needed to balance the spindle but required the tool holder. The customer sent in the tool holder and once received the technician was able to bring the balance in. The spindle was checked in quality control and passed all testing. The customer received their spindle repair and tool holder back.
It is very important to send in a tool holder with the spindle. We are able to check taper run out with your tooling and it is sometimes required for balancing purposes.
