NTE has been rebuilding spindles for over 30 years. We handle many types of spindles and this is the first Seida we have ever seen. The spindle is used for optic fabrication and is a very low rpm with a Lovejoy Drive.
A rear nut had tightened up on the preload washer causing bearings to fail.
We replaced the bearings with a shielded precision bearing and kiss ground the front pilot shoulder. Preload was adjusted and the spindle was balanced. The spindle was shipped out and the customer will be sending more in for rebuild.

This spindle is not common place in the machine tool industry. It is being used in an optical grinding application so we needed to make sure the tooling interface was perfect. We also needed to make sure the spindle was well protected against contamination. We have done several repairs of this nature and they are still on the machines to this day.
