Coolant Jacket
Coolant jackets are used in Coolant jackets are used in machine tool spindles to carry chilled coolant that holds the spindle temperature at a constant. This eliminates tolerance changes due to thermal expansion. It also removes the heat generated by the stator in motorized spindles.
When possible the coolant jacket needs to be disassembled and thoroughly cleaned to prevent corrosion and blockage. If we are unable to disassemble the coolant jacket special processes are used to ensure the proper cooling properties can be maintained. Lack of coolant flow reduces the cooling capacity which in turn reduces spindle life.
