Drawbar Assembly

Definition: The spindle drawbar assembly is used to retain the tool in the spindle shaft. Every spindle with a drawbar system has specifications for drawbar force that must be met or the following could occur:

1. Taper damage
2. Poor part finish
3. Tool holder damage
4. Short tooling life
5. Poor part finish
6. Injury from flying tools (Yes this has happens more than you think)

Northland Tool & Electronics recommends checking your drawbar force during normal machine preventative maintenance routines. Inexpensive dynamometers can be purchased or a qualified service technician should have one.
