Grind Plate Grind

A Grind Plate Grind is used to bring non-conforming shaft and housing bearing journals, tool interfaces (cat tapers, HSK, pilots, etc) and/or any other surface that has a very tight tolerance requirements back to its original specifications.

A grind plate grind is simply:

Grind: The spindle part that is out of specification is green ground in our grinding department to prepare the surface for chrome plating.

Plate: We send the green ground part to a certified chrome plater (this is the only process we do not do in our facility) for chrome plating.

Finish grind: The spindle part is finish ground to micron tolerances and final QC’d in our clean room for accuracy

This process is performed in our grinding department that is set up specifically for this part of the spindle repair. Many of our competitors use an outside vendor for their grind plate grinds. We have invested in having this capability for the following reasons:

-Faster turn around
-Quality control 
-Our technicians can speak directly with our grinders to review the work needed 
-Kiss grinds can be done in house saving shipping and time 
-Many of our competitors just don’t fix the out of spec areas giving you an inferior spindle repair 
-We do not grind in assembly! That is only covering up poor repair quality.

We have recently added additional personnel and a Kellenburger 1000U ID/OD grinder to this department to keep up with the increased demand. If needed we are prepared to run additional shifts increasing our capacity to meet surges in demand. Back
