Eumach Spindle Repair

This Eumach spindle is grease lubricated and is capable of running up to 6,000 rpm.

CHALLENGE

When this Eumach spindle arrived at our facility we completed a full breakdown and evaluation. Upon inspection, we noted that the bearings were heavily contaminated. It was also noted that the front cover drains were blocked from debris. The grippers were worn and the drawbar pull force was very low. Lastly, the shaft taper ID was worn and will need to be ground to correct. No other dimensional deviations were noted for this repair.

SOLUTION

The following actions were performed on this Okuma MC-V4020 spindle:

Clean all parts of the spindle
Replace all bolts, o-rings, and bellevilles
Replace bearings
Kiss grind ID Taper

RESULT

After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.

The detailed cause of failure reports and the expert technical advice that Northland Tool provides is bar none the best I have ever seen.
