Mori Seiki MH50 Ceramic taper replacement and spindle rebuild

 
Possible cause of failure:
  Ceramic taper insert is broken, with pieces missing.
  Due to damage, the drawbar force could not be checked.
  Front shaft journal were the angular contact bearings ride is fretted and undersized by -8/-10
  Rear drive coupling upper and lower IDs are severely worn and over size (spindle side and motor side).
  Rear drive coupling shaft journal is severely fretted from a loose drive coupling or a loose fit between the drive coupling and drive motor.
 Collet fingers are worn.
 Drive dogs have wear from use.
 Drawbar spring is very rusted.
 Shaft nose OD has light rub out with front cover.
                                                                          
Recommended action: 
  Clean, inspect overall dimensions.
  Replace bearings and orings.
  Remove damaged ceramic taper insert.
  Manufacture a hardened steel insert,
  Finish grind the insert and kiss grind the shaft OD rub out damage.
  Grind, chrome plate and finish grind the front journal.
  Grind, chrome plate and finish grind the rear drive coupling journal.
  Customer needs to check their drive motor were it attaches to the drive coupling for wear.
  Weld and machine drive dogs.
  Adjust preload, balance, assemble and break in. Final quality control inspection.
