Studer S-40 Spindle Repair
This Studer S-40 spindle is oil mist lubricated, belt driven, and capable of running up to 68,000 rpm.
Our customer sent us this Studer S-40 spindle stating that it was run without oil at their facility. Upon inspection, we noted that the #4 bearing was very burned up. Lastly, the pilot face was very rough. No other dimensional deviations were noted for this repair.
The following actions were performed on this Studer S-40 spindle:
- Clean, inspect overall dimensions
- Replace bearings, o-rings, and assembly screws
- Kiss grind the pilot face
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
