Moore Jig Grinder Spindle Repair

The Moore Jig Grinder spindle is grease lubricated, air driven, and capable of running up to 40,000 rpm.

CHALLENGE

This Moore Jig Grinder spindle spun freely incoming, but had high run out on the pin in the collet (8µ).  Upon disassembly and inspection, we noted that the bearings felt worn and showed slight signs of contamination.  No other dimensional deviations were noted for this repair.

SOLUTION

The following actions were performed on this Moore Jig Grinder spindle:

• Clean, inspect overall dimensions
• Replace bearings, o-rings, and assembly screws
• Purchase new shaft

RESULT

After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
