The Takisawa TC-2 is a compact CNC turning center designed for small spaces with full turning capability. The spindle is grease lubricated, belt-driven, and can run up to 3,600 RPM.
CHALLENGE
When this Takisawa TC-2 spindle arrived at Northland Tool, it was completely seized and would not turn. After disassembly, it was found that the spindle was fully contaminated with oil and particulate. The bearings had thick particulate grease throughout and felt rough when spun by hand. There was also light oil contamination found in the housing. The critical dimensions (bearing journals, bearing shoulders, taper, etc) were measured and there were no dimensional deviations found.
SOLUTION
The following actions were performed on this Takisawa TC-2 spindle repair:
- Clean all parts of the spindle
- Replace all bolts and o-rings
- Replace bearings
RESULT
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
