12,000 rpm – This Akira Seiki spindle was sent in from an aerospace defense company. They were having finish problems and need to hold tight tolerances. The rear bearings had failed due to coolant contamination. We recommended that they check their system to help prevent any future contamination failures.
We cleaned, replaced bearings, adjusted preload, balanced and did our break in period. The final QC checked taper run out, taper contact, test bar run out, draw-bar force, and end-play. The spindle passed quality control and was sent to the customer. Their finish problems are now gone.
