Mori Seiki NL3000 Spindle Repair
The Mori Seiki NL3000 is a large CNC turning center. It comes standard with a grease lubricated and stator driven spindle capable of running up to 6,000 rpm.
Our customer was having difficulty holding tolerances and experienced chatter marks on their parts. After receiving the spindle, our incoming evaluation did show excessive axial movement and end play. The bearings were contaminated which can cause looseness in the spindle assembly due to wear on the rolling elements. No dimensional deviations were noted for this spindle.
The following actions were performed on this Mori Seiki NL3000 spindle:
- Clean all parts of the spindle
- Replace all bolts and o-rings
- Replace bearings
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
