Toyoda FA550-11 Spindle Repair

Toyoda FA550-11 Spindle Repair

CHALLENGE

This Toyoda FA550-11 spindle arrived to our facility in rough condition.  Upon inspection, we noted the taper and OD of the shaft nose were damaged and the taper looks like it was hand ground with a die grinder.  The OD of the shaft nose had rubbed out with front cover ID.  We also noted that the drive dog and drive dog pocket on the shaft were damaged.  It appears that the spindle had been crashed, this could be the possible cause of the rotor being loose on the shaft.  The bearings were starting to fail from contamination and the front cover’s large coolant jets were damaged.  Lastly, the rear drawbar threads were slightly damaged.
