The Kitamura Mycenter H400 is a CNC horizontal machining center equipped with a built in pallet changer. It comes equipped with an oil mist lubricated and gear driven spindle capable of running up to 10,000 rpm.
CHALLENGE
This Kitamura Mycenter H400 was sent in to us for a full evaluation. Upon inspection, we noted that the front bearing pair felt very rough when rotated and the rear roller felt a little better. There were no obvious signs of contamination. The tooling taper ID was pitted and the chamfer at the mouth was chipped. Lastly, the gripper fingers and OD of the drawbar shaft had some wear, but we can use both components as is.
SOLUTION
The following actions were performed on this Kitamura Mycenter H400 spindle:
- Clean, inspect overall dimensions
- Grind, chrome plate, and finish grind the tooling taper ID
- Replace bearings, bellevilles, o-rings, and assembly screws
RESULT
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
