YCM V158B Spindle Repair
The YCM V158B is a larger CNC vertical machining center. It can come equipped with this grease lubricated and belt driven spindle capable of running up to 10,000 RPM.
Our customer sent this YCM V158B spindle stating that there was vibration and noise over 8,000 RPM. When it arrived at Northland Tool we test ran the spindle and found that it had high acceleration and high balance at full speed. We then disassembled the spindle and found no contamination in the bearings. The draw bar also pulled good pull force, but the grippers were worn and will need to be replaced.
The following actions were performed on this YCM V158B spindle:
- Clean, inspect overall dimensions
- Replace bearings, bolts, bellevilles, and grippers
After reassembly of all components and adjusting bearing preload, we put the spindle through a rigorous break-in and testing procedure to make sure it passes our final quality inspection. See below for the passing test reports:
This spindle passed our final quality inspection and was returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
