Our customer contacted us to find out how to coordinate his spindle repair to minimize his machine downtime. We scheduled a slot in our production schedule that fit our customers best time to have the spindle removed. This Anca spindle failed from coolant contamination so we worked with our customer to determine if the air purge in the machine was operating and that it was set to the proper specifications. This will help decrease the possibility of further failure from contamination and increase the spindles lifespan significantly.
Possible cause of failure:
Both sets of bearings full of contamination, grease washed out.
Front shaft nut spanner holes worn.
Clean, inspect overall dimensions.
Rework front nut spanner holes.
Add air purge to the front cover to help prevent contamination & loss of lubrication.
Adjust preload, balance, assemble and break in. Final quality control inspection.
