Anca TG7 Spindle Repair
This is one type of Anca spindle we repair for many of our tool and cutter manufacturing accounts. The most common cause of failure is contamination. We pay special attention to the front labyrinth on the spindle to make sure it is giving you the best contamination protection possible.
CHALLENGE
This Anca TG7 spindle arrived at Northland Tool and Electronics for a full breakdown and evaluation. Upon inspection, we noted that one screw hole in the front cover had cosmetic damage, but we will use as is.
The wheel hub OD taper was measured and had >7µm runout and the hub retention threads were severely worn with a loose fit. The 38mm drive pulley journal was fretted undersized -20/-48µm with >10µm runout. Lastly, the drive pulley belt guard was bent with one broken tack weld. No other dimensional deviations were noted for this repair.
SOLUTION
The following actions were performed on this Anca TG7 spindle:
- Clean, inspect overall dimensions
- Rework the wheel hub retention threads and the drive pulley belt guard
- Grind, chrome plate, and finish grind the 38mm drive pulley journal
- Kiss grind the wheel hub OD taper
- Replace all bearings, seals, o-rings, and assembly screws
RESULT
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
