Matsuura ES-550V Spindle Repair
The Matsuura ES-550V is a high speed CNC vertical machining center. It comes equipped with a grease lubricated and belt driven spindle capable of running up to 15,000 rpm.
When this Matsuura ES-550V spindle arrived at our facility we performed a full evaluation of the spindle. After disassembly we determined that the spindle was heavily contaminated with coolant, the front bearing cage was broken, and the drain ports were plugged. We also recommended that the spindle be converted from grease injection lubrication to grease for life. Lastly, the shaft taper and face have wear with 3µ runout in taper.
The following actions were performed on this Matsuura ES-550V spindle:
- Clean, inspect overall dimensions
- Kiss grind shaft taper
- Replace bearings, bellevilles, o-rings, and assembly screws
After reassembly of all components, adjusting bearing preload, and undergoing break-in and testing procedures, this spindle passed our final quality inspection before being returned to our customer with a 1-year warranty.
