Economy was the route the customer wanted to take with this repair. They had tried to fix it themselves and realized that it would be better to send it out for service. We evaluated the spindle and found that the majority of the bearing surfaces were not to ISO specification. We discussed this in detail with our customer and we outlined the pro’s and con’s of not fixing the bearing surfaces. It was decided that the spindle could function well enough to accomplish the job without reworking the shaft and housing.
